BP Automotive — Direct Fit F-Body A/C Setup Guide #

Purpose: Help you choose the correct A/C options when ordering a BP Automotive Direct Fit harness for supported Camaro / Firebird (F-Body) platforms — so the harness is built for your A/C layout the first time.
Troubleshooting will be added in a later update.

Start here: Direct Fit A/C uses factory wiring #

All Direct Fit harnesses use factory A/C wiring. When you order A/C Yes, the harness is built to work with the vehicle’s factory-style A/C path — including compressor wiring.

If you remember only a few things:

• Pick the correct A/C Yes/No and location at checkout — that is how we build your Direct Fit harness.
• Wrong A/C option = wrong build. These harnesses are custom-built and not returnable / exchangeable.
• All F-Body Direct Fit platforms must use an F-Body operating system in the PCM for A/C to function correctly.
• Fan wiring is not in the engine harness — fans stay on the car / forward-lamp side.
• PCM can be 09354896 or 12200411 (either works on all applications).

Step 1 — Decide what A/C situation you actually have #

Before you open the product page dropdowns, write this down:

• Keeping factory dash / HVAC in the F-Body, or deleting A/C
• Compressor location you will run (factory location, relocated / other, none)
• Which Direct Fit SKU you are ordering (H800 / H750 / H700)
• Confirm your PCM plan uses an F-Body operating system (required for A/C on Direct Fit)

Quick forks we see often in tickets:

• “Does the Direct Fit harness include A/C?” — Yes — factory A/C wiring (including compressor wiring) when you select an A/C Yes option; selecting No builds for no A/C.
• Customers expecting fan control wires inside H800 / H750 / H700 — fans stay with the original / forward-lamp side.
• Mixing this guide up with the 1999–2002 full-size truck/SUV A/C Update Kit — that kit is not an F-Body Direct Fit A/C part. See Step 5.

Step 2 — Open the correct F-Body product page and find the A/C option #

H800 — LT1 → Gen III LS · H750 — 1998–2002 LS1 F-Body · H700 — LT1 24x conversion

Air Conditioning choices (confirm live on each page):

• Yes Factory Location
• Yes Other Location (Use Notes Section Below)
• No

Notes that matter for A/C / cooling:

• Fan wiring is not included with these F-Body engine harnesses — it is part of the original / forward-lamp harness.
• A new factory firewall grommet is included on the engine harness path — still plan A/C location in the options so compressor / A/C leads match what you are keeping.

Step 3 — Choose the A/C option that matches the compressor you will run #

1. If you are deleting A/C, choose No.
2. If you are keeping A/C in the stock compressor location, choose Yes Factory Location.
3. If the compressor is somewhere else (custom bracket, relocated, unusual package), choose Yes Other Location and describe it in the order notes (a photo helps).
4. Do not guess “close enough.” Location is how the harness is built.

Ticket-driven tip: Factory Location vs Other is still a real build choice even though fans stay on the car side.

Step 4 — Platform specifics (H800 / H750 / H700) #

• H800: 1993–1997 LT1 car, Gen III LS swap — A/C Yes factory / other / no.
• H750: 1998–2002 LS1 F-Body — same A/C Yes/No style choices.
• H700: 1993–1997 LT1 with EFI Connection / TorqHead-style 24x conversion — same A/C Yes/No style choices; PCM can be 09354896 or 12200411.
• Fans: do not order expecting cooling-fan wiring inside these engine harnesses. Fans remain with the original / forward-lamp side of the car.
• Factory A/C wiring for the Direct Fit path is selected with the A/C dropdown — that is separate from “where do the fans live.”
• PCM must use an F-Body operating system for A/C to function correctly.

1999–2002 full-size truck/SUV A/C Update Kit (often referenced as kit 1018)

• For 1999–2002 GM full-size trucks and SUVs only
• Not an F-Body Direct Fit A/C part

Step 6 — PCM / operating system: F-Body OS required for A/C #

All F-Body Direct Fit platforms must use an F-Body operating system in the PCM for A/C to function correctly.

That applies to:

• H800 LT1 → LS F-Body
• H750 1998–2002 F-Body
• H700 LT1 24x conversion F-Body

Also remember:

• These Direct Fit LS paths use drive-by-cable and P01 PCMs. All applications can use either PCM service number 09354896 or 12200411.
• If BP Automotive programs/tunes your PCM: we need to know whether factory A/C is retained or deleted, and we program for Direct Fit A/C on an F-Body OS.
• If someone else tunes it: they must flash/use an F-Body operating system and enable A/C correctly for that OS — or A/C will not function correctly even with the right harness options.
• Fans staying on the car side does not remove the need for the correct F-Body OS and A/C programming in the PCM.

Step-by-step flow at checkout (F-Body Direct Fit + A/C) #

1. Confirm you need a Direct Fit F-Body SKU (H800 / H750 / H700).
2. Open the correct product page and complete non-A/C options (year, engine, injectors, trans, MAF, etc.).
3. Select the A/C option that matches compressor location — or No.
4. If Other Location, fill the notes with a clear description (and photo if you can).
5. Confirm PCM plan uses an F-Body operating system and that A/C retained/deleted is noted for the tune.
6. Do not add the 1999–2002 full-size A/C Update Kit — that is not for F-Body.
7. Acknowledge custom build / no return or exchange, check lead times, then order.

Scope note #

This guide covers choosing Direct Fit A/C options and related factory A/C expectations for:

• 1993–1997 LT1 F-Body Direct Fit (H800, H700)
• 1998–2002 LS1 F-Body Direct Fit (H750)

It does not replace:

• HVAC manufacturer diagrams if you somehow deviate from factory HVAC
• A/C shop work (evacuate, charge, leak repair, condenser/evaporator mechanical diagnosis)
